Witch Trials and Executions: Perhaps one of the most infamous episodes in history, the witch trials of the early modern period saw countless women accused of witchcraft and subjected to horrific tortures. Methods such as the ducking stool, strappado, and burning at the stake were employed to extract confessions and punish alleged witches, leading to widespread suffering and loss of life.



Foot Binding: In ancient China, foot binding was a practice inflicted upon young girls to alter the shape of their feet and conform to beauty standards of the time. This painful process involved tightly binding the feet to prevent natural growth, resulting in lifelong disability and excruciating pain for millions of women.


The Iron Maiden: A notorious torture device dating back to the Middle Ages, the Iron Maiden was a coffin-like structure adorned with spikes on the inside. Victims, often women accused of heresy or other crimes, would be placed inside and subjected to agonizing impalement as the spikes pierced their flesh.


The Pear of Anguish: Also known as the choke pear or vaginal pear, this gruesome torture device was specifically designed to inflict pain upon women. Shaped like a pear, the device would be inserted into the victim's orifices, such as the vagina, anus, or mouth, and forcibly expanded, causing severe internal injuries and often death.
